The REAL Oregon!

The last post was written underneath the tittle of “Oregon!” That in fact was a lie. All of what Harry said was in Boise. From what you will hear from me today, will be all the information from what we did in Oregon; first we got off at a crappy air bnb where the owners didn’t bother to clean up and you could see at least 100 bugs in eye shot (one bug even bit me while i was sleeping) though we got it because it was near the house where I lived before. We went to see a flower that smells like a rotting corpse when it blooms. We were a day late so the only time you could smell it was if the wind blew in the right direction. We spent hours in Powells ( my happy place) some downtown shopping and ,per request, Voodoo Doughnuts. Also a Portland Timbers game was in the mix! On a TV, in a pizza bar. We attempted a hike but the trail was closed so we watched a movie. We saw so many old friends it was crazy! Also crazy that all of them were not on a vacation... We had one more day in Portland but I will leave that to dad. That will come soon.-Addie

    Thanks for sharing those special spots in Rachel and Brian's journey and also for not sharing pictures of you stuffing your faces with doughnuts! Glad to see that Harry is contributing to the campaign to keep Portland Weird!

    Awesome stuff Addie! I want all the donuts (your Mom was nutty for chocolate donuts whenever they were in the office). Harry's Goofy shirt is amazing! Thanks for sharing the memories, it's great to put pictures with all the stories I've heard over the year. Hope you enjoy your time with Kerry and family!

Last day in Tennessee

It was a good day today. We went go to see an re-enactment of Patience Cooper’s colonial life at Sycamore Shoals, where the frontier started (the signing of the Transylvania Treaty, giving the US 3 million more acres). It was very fun 😁. Then we put some of moms ashes in Tennessee next to her dad and grandfather. We went and had lunch in a restaurant called “The Southern Restaurant”. The food was great, but if you ever go down south to eat get tea not sweet tea. It is way too sweet. We later went swimming in a salt pool. That was fun. After that we got to celebrate my moms life in my grandma’s church. It was sad but we know that she would be happy we did it. Tomorrow we are going back on the road and it is going to be a long trip, 9 hour car ride. Much hasn’t happened yet but it has still been a slow start to the trip. But I know as we go on the adventure will increase. -Harry

St.Louis to Kansas

Now for those up close pictures! At 10:30 in the morning we were waiting in line for the tram up the St.Louis Gateway Arch. When the line was over we were put in a very small tram for a 4 minute ride up to the top. I would definitely NOT recommend this if you are claustrophobic or afraid of heights. Because, at the top of the arch you are 630 feet above ground, this is the tallest man made building in the U.S, and you are filled in a small narrow room with a load of other tourists, like yourself, taking pictures and crowding the windows. But if you are fine with all this, and you manage to get to the windows, the view is amazing. You can also see very clearly the court where the Dread Scott Case was debated. Then you go back down in a 3 minute ride. After our ride down we took more pictures. Then we drove to Salina, Kansas, and past the school where Brown vs the Board of Education took place. 2 days in Steamboat

After we left Denver and Granny Barb’s house (thanks,Barb!) we headed up to Steamboat Springs, Colorado. On the way we stopped in Winter Park to ride the alpine slide. Steamboat was fun. We stayed with Dad’s friends Bruce and Shelby in their beautiful home on the mountain. We planned a bike ride along the river but before we left, I fell off my bike and scraped my elbow and my knee. it hurt at first but know it is ok. I love Steamboat, it was fun I want to live there because it was a beautiful little place. There was a place down town that sold fossils and I did not know that they sold fossils. It was like a museum. We also rode a mountain coaster, it’s like the alpine slide but faster and more like a mini- roller coaster. Another hike on Monday up Fish Creek Falls, then a quick stop at the World Footbag Association to see Bruce, Peter and Randy. If you want to get better at foot skills for soccer or just for fun, you should try kicking a footbag. It is actually very fun to try it. ...
