Feet Killer Hike
Hey all! My lazy brother was supposed to write this blog entry, but if we revisit the word lazy you should understand that he is lazy. And we all know I have the best blog entry’s. Today we woke up very early to drive all way out to Square Top Mountain on Guanella Pass. We also met up with other Rochestarians the Brickman-Sunwoo’s. It took the kids awhile to get used to the Colorado air, for we only breathe city pollution. But the adults (especially David and Brian) sped up the mountain. The rest of us stayed behind throwing the mountain snow at one another, Pattie fell. (Sorry) We got up to 13,925 feet before we turned around for fear of a storm. Then we waited in a once small town to get famous Colorado pizza for lunch. And a really melted cookie cheese cake (we ordered this on a dare). I can’t decide if I liked it or not. For the rest of the day we just kicked up our sore feet. Maybe we will get Harry to write tomorrow, or he will procrastinate. -Addie
(From Brian): I just want to point out, this was a difficult hike. While the flatlanders crowd the coveted 14ers, we hiked this high 13er. Almost no other hikers. 2,247 vertical feet in 4.5 miles with scree, talus, exposed the entire way, all above tree line. The kids did genuinely fantastic. Very impressed!

I am so loving this pics. And really wish I was there. Can't believe Patti, David and Lily were there. Did you plan that ahead of time? Looks like there were a few willows to get through...like Bierstadt (sp?). Harry, get on the stick and do some writing. I want to hear from both of you. What did you think of the Rockies?
ReplyDeleteI don't think Harry is lazy, he is taking it all in so his next blog post will be that much more thrilling! But thank you, Addie, for holding down the fort in the meantime, I feel like I am on the trip with you (and am pretty jealous I am not!...except for the sore feet part, those you can keep.)
ReplyDeleteAddie, you crack me up, I hear so much of your Mom in your writing!
ReplyDeleteHARRY! Where you at bruh?
Brian - I so appreciate you pushing those kiddos. Sounds like you're doing everything just right, I love following along. The Colorado air is no joke, when I visited my friends warned me that beer would hit me a lot faster because of it... it did, I wasn't too sad about it. Cheers Friend!
I'm jealous and inspired!
