Last day in Tennessee
It was a good day today. We went go to see an re-enactment of Patience Cooper’s colonial life at Sycamore Shoals, where the frontier started (the signing of the Transylvania Treaty, giving the US 3 million more acres). It was very fun 😁. Then we put some of moms ashes in Tennessee next to her dad and grandfather. We went and had lunch in a restaurant called “The Southern Restaurant”. The food was great, but if you ever go down south to eat get tea not sweet tea. It is way too sweet. We later went swimming in a salt pool. That was fun. After that we got to celebrate my moms life in my grandma’s church. It was sad but we know that she would be happy we did it. Tomorrow we are going back on the road and it is going to be a long trip, 9 hour car ride. Much hasn’t happened yet but it has still been a slow start to the trip. But I know as we go on the adventure will increase. -Harry
Harry-this would be a great time for you to learn to drive. ;)
ReplyDeleteFor some reason I have not successfully hooked up my comments with my google account..... so here it goes again.... It’s a good thing you guys have lots of journey ahead, plenty of time for me to figure out what I’m doing wrong!!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you all had the opportunity to celebrate your mom’s life in Tennessee. It’s certainly what your mom would have wanted.
On a lighter note, I am so with you on the sweet tea, Harry. It’s way way too sweet. Straight up tea with a little squeeze of lemon is all you need!
Safe travels! Nine hours is a long time to spend in the car. Remember, patience is a virtue and your Dad would probably love for you to be virtuous on these long days!
Tennessee is a beautiful state so the first part of your journey today should , at least, be scenic. You can probably find a place to squeeze in a short hike. Afterwards you could have some "sweet tea".
ReplyDeleteMy brother and I used to play "headlight/red light" on long drives...though now come to think of it I am amzed our parents didn't throw us out of the car. It consisted simply of picking a "team" (headlights or taillights) and announcing who currently had "more" on the road. (I have more! I have more!) I think it is best that you not tell your father I told you this game...unless you want to walk to Portland.
ReplyDeleteSalt Pool - AWESOME! Take more pics!!!
